32folios. 15.5-16 x 24 cm. 1 column, 9 lines. The outer edges ofiff 5 and 7 cut out, as well as the top of many other leaves. Written space ofiff. V and 23'is partly damaged. Bif. 1/2 was restored in 1990.
14th c. Large initials: 1) red, and 2) ultramarine. That of the Christmas responsory, Hodie nobis celorum (fi. 6'), is bicoloured, larger than usual, and decorated with red hairlines. Small initials are highlighted with red. Quadratic notation on a red four-line staff (14-15 mm, ruled with a rastrum), linea (not many), b rotundum, cephalicus. Line-fillers (red braidlike ornaments) under melismas in some places. On some leaves the original foliation is present (probably the right-hand symbols of "opening signatures", see the explanation on p. 161 ):a roman numeral on the recto, in the middle of the bottom margin, written in text ink. Photograph off. 26'on p. 50. Bears a stylistic resemblance to Antiphoners Nos. 58 (Upsalense), 59 (I psalense), 73 (Upsalense / Lincopense), 96 (Lincopense/ Upsalense), 97 (e.g. Upsalense) and 98 (e.g. Upsalense). SRA KA KBTheol.A 103 o 4 is work of the same school. MOBERG 1947 (a) p. 103 assigns the date of this fragment to the 15th century (b/w reproduction in Nilsson 1991 Abb. 53).
ANTIPHONARIUM.The rubric on f.4rmentions Lazarus, see Schmid 1951 pp. 45, 47, and Frithz 1976 p. 76. No doubt the manuscript was therefore produced for the diocese of Västerås.
Since St. Agnes (21st of January) follows immediately after the double feast of the martyrs St. Fabian and St. Sebastian (19th of January in the diocese of Abo, elsewhere 20th of Jan.), the manuscript cannot represent Abo use: it observed St. Henry on the 20th of Jan., Malin 1925 pp. 214-217. -The Ms. ignores the Immaculate Conception.
